Growth and risk mitigation set to be key trends for data centre sector in 2012

20 January 2012

The data centre sector is set to grow by 28 per cent over the next five years, with data centre revenue across Europe increasing by 53 per cent over the five year period to the end of 2016. This is according to specialist firm 8 Solutions.

According to its ceo Mark Plant, 2012 will be a year of increased risk management programmes, with regular decontamination being a critical part of data centre risk mitigation. Plant predicts that there will be an increased inclusion of deep cleaning regimes in corporate risk management programmes and a growing importance of data centre environment cleanliness in OEM warranty validations.

He also believes there will be a move to procuring cleaning and decontamination solutions on a managed service basis.

Most interestingly, Plant predicts that in 2012 the long awaited and much needed integration and co-operation between company’s FM and IT functions in the effective management of the data centre will start to gather pace. Now it’s time to sit back and see if his predictions come true…
