Membership Grades and Fees

IMIS offers tiered levels of membership dependant on what stage you are at within your career.
There are two Affiliate grades and four Professional grades of membership in IMIS, reflecting an individual's level of academic and experiential qualifications.
Criteria for each grade are outlined below, along with the annual membership subscription cost.
Membership application is a one off fee of £30 for Affiliate grades and £45 for Professional grades.
If you are unsure which grade is most appropriate for you, the guidance notes below will assist you.

Affiliate grades:

  • Student Member - £36 membership annual subscription.
    Open to those studying for a recognised IS qualification leading to a professional membership grade.
  • Practitioner Member - £51 membership annual subscription.
    Open to those who are spending a substantial proportion of their working day involved in some aspect of IS.

Professional membership grades:

  • Licentiate Member (LIMIS) - £67 membership annual subscription.
    Open to members having up to four years IS work experience, combined with an appropriate professional qualification or waiver.
  • Associate Member (AIMIS) - £92 membership annual subscription.
    Requires a minimum of four years IS work experience, combined with an appropriate professional qualification or waiver.
  • Full Member (MIMIS) - £114 membership annual subscription.
    Requires a minimum of eight years IS work experience, combined with an appropriate professional qualification or waiver.
  • Fellow (FIMIS) - £148 membership annual subscription.
    The highest grade, FIMIS is available to members of the profession who have achieved distinction and/or a senior position over a career of not less than 15 years experience.

Retired professionals can retain their membership grade and benefits for a yearly fee of £12.

Notes

  1. If you are applying for student membership, the application fee of £30 plus the first year’s subscription fee of £36 (a total of £66) must accompany a completed student course application form.
  2. The application fee is a non-refundable one-off payment.
  3. Fees can be paid by cheque, money order, or debit to your Mastercard, Visa Delta, Visa, Maestro, Barclays Connect.
  4. Annual subscription fees can be paid by Variable Amount Direct Debit.  A 10% discount applies if payment of annual subscription is made by Variable Amount Direct Debit.
